She smiled a little, "I like the beach. And it's not like I get hot flushes all the time. But again Dr. Charlie you are right." she teased. She paused as she felt a shiver down her spine. That was weird, she thought.

Charlie let out a small laugh. "Well I'm definately no Jack, but my brother's wife was pregnant a couple of years back and she was always complaining about being hot, and her back being sore, and all that kindof stuff. So I figured everything she went through you have to be going through to the extreme on an island"

"Oh really? An uncle, are you?" she paused again at the thought of going through the 'extreme'. She hadn't properly thought about how scary it would be. What would happen when it was time to deliver and they hadn't been rescued? She bit her bottom lip at the thought.

Charlie let out a small laugh. "Yeah, I guess I am" He then paused for a moment before continueing. "Not a very good one though. Her name's Megan, but I've hardly spoken a word to her the four years she's been around"

She didn't know how to reply because, really, she'd be in the same situation. Well, not really. She wouldn't ever be able to see or hear her child. But maybe Charlie had the same experience with kids as her. Unsure how to react to them and how to deal with them. Maybe he could relate, understand why she had to give it up, "I just hope I'm not making a mistake," she whispered her thoughts out loud.

Charlie didn't want to tell Claire that he thought she was making a mistake. He didn't want to tell her that even though his brother didn't even want Megan, once she was born he would do anything for her. Even leave his "Baby Brother" crying in the street as he went to sober up. "Well it's not like you get much of a choice...I don't see us getting off this island anytime soon"

Claire looked up feeling a little anxious, "You think?" she asked. She looked down again, "That's what I was worried aout." Staying here would ruin everything. She wouldn't be able to get to L.A. and give the child to the loving family it deserved. And the thought of giving birth here was terrifying.

Charlie realized he had probably crushed all hope she had left in getting rescued, and felt pretty bad about it. "But don't worry about it love. I won't let anything happen to you...promise" Charlie said with a small.

Claire forced a smiled. She knew Charlie meant well. They were friends and she could tell they were becoming very close but she felt everything was chaging. She realised it might be a while before they saw rescue coming their way. She just had a hard time accepting it.
"Yeah," she replied softly, "Thanks," she fiddled with the strap on the bag next to her while in deep thought.

Charlie smiled at Claire brightly. "No problem" He said softly. Charlie had never been very good at reading people's emotions. He had had former girlfriends get mad at him, because when he asked what was wrong and they said nothing, he believed them.

Claire looked around her new home. Already she was beginning to get used to it. Afterall didn't it all look the same? She made herself believe that staying here was not abandning hope of rescue but perhaps putting it off. Maybe it was safer here anyway. She felt safe. Or did she? She felt the cold shiver down her spine again. What was that? She started shivering.

Charlie noticed Claire's shivering and gently put a hand on her shoulder. "Claire, are you okay?" He asked softly. The last thing Claire needed was to be sick or something, with her being pregnant and all.

She looked at Charlie, "Yeah," she replied unsure herself, "I just feel weird that's all. Probably still getting used to this place," she added looking towards the jungle. Was she afraid?

Charlie let out a small sigh before asking again. "You're sure? Cause I can find Jack if you thing somethings wrong." Charlie was beginning to realize that Claire didn't like to be a burden, and would most likely say she was fine even if she wasn't.

She didn't take her eyes off the darkness of the jungle, "Yeah...yeah I'm sure." She broke her gaze away from the creepy jungle and forced a smile, "It's getting pretty dark now. Maybe we should light a fire?" she suggested.
